Nancy Williams, the science fiction writer, is having a Halloween party and invited us to tell her our trick, our treat, and our costume (her costume is WAY cool!). Here’s what I said:

I’m wearing brown pants, a turtleneck with a pattern of autumn leaves and, around my neck, a bundle of twigs tied together with strips of flannel. What am I?

My trick is, inside the bundle of sticks are cello-wrapped caramels.

My treat is this short-short story.
